Ok, so I figered it out. There is only one type of mage that can make it all the way through undefeated. Im not tell who though;)

The good thing is that you get to play the game to the end even if you do lose a match or two, losing just changes the ending you get slightly

I think its pretty fun. I played it all the way to the end twice. I think that some of the later fights in the game are unwinnable with certain mages though, even if you have your stats maxed out
